Aqua Action

Sam and Diane do a fantastic job. And I highly recommend them for boat diving on the south side of St. Thomas, they have a wide variety of things to do, and the snorkeling right of there beach is great

Fishing with Berry Charters

Jerry is second to none when it comes to fishing, he is located on the north side of St Thomas where most of the fishing is done. This means more time fishing and less time getting there.

Luxury Yacht, Ponchis When it comes to being pampered the Captain and crew of Ponchis is second to none. You will have the best day of your vacation aboard this 48' Dynacraft as the Captain and crew see to your every need. Snorkel, Scuba or just sit on deck and soak up the rays and live the life of luxury aboard Ponchis

Places to stay

Island View guest house

Check out their web site and you will find a nice relaxing place to stay at a reasonable cost. You can't beat Mike and Bonnies hospitality, Because they make you feel like part of the family.

The Truth about Beaches

Coki Beach: In my opinion this is the armpit of all beaches. The diving and snorkeling is good however you will be bombarded by vendors wanting to sell you stuff, not to mention that all the cruises ships drop their passengers off by the hundreds.

Magens Bay: It is a beautiful beach but they charge to get in and there can be over 3,000 people on that beach on a busy cruise ship day and there is no snorkeling.

Secret Harbor: Beautiful beach, great snorkeling and I can not say enough good things about the dive shop there.. They are great.

Sapphire Beach: nice beach and OK snorkeling, It can get crowded by cruise shippers at times but there is enough room their.

Hull Bay: The islands best kept secret, no cruise shippers at this beach, because the taxi drivers will take anyone there...cant get a fare back. Great snorkeling and fantastic reefs to dive on if your a diver right from shore

Places to eat : ) You don't have to pay $100 for two people every time you go out! For those of you staying on the east end of the island and feel like something quick;

Texas pit BBQ: Is right in red hook and for $8 you can get a half a chicken cole slaw or potato salad and a roll. They also have Ribs and beef brisket...and the food is good.(Take out only)

Wok and Roll: Chinese food, BIG portions and a very reasonable rate(small outside dining)

Senior Pizza: Well, what can I say it's Pizza! the sell it by the slice and they also deliver!!(small outside tables)

Burrito Bay: Breakfast Burritos, Tacos and much more and all reasonable and affordable prices

XO: Yep, that's the name - XO Bistro (Wine & Champagne Bar). This is a nice little place that not to many visitors to our island find, but is a place locals love to relax and unwind away from the rah-rah crowd. It's tucked between Banco Popular and the Grateful Deli in Red Hook Plaza, behind Duffy's Love Shack. Ladies, join the locals on Wednesday for Women Who Wine from 5 - 9 PM. Also, if you're looking for THE place to be on Friday nights, this is IT.

Well, These are my suggestions....you won't find these on most of the the tourist books because they aren't in there!!

Dolphin Dreams Located in Red Hook this store has all kinds of things, and has been rated the #1 place to buy Gifts for friends and family they also sell shorts and sandals and a variety of items. If you are in Red Hook you have to go in and see what they have

Getting around: Well, here is da proplum mon. We drive on the left side of the road, the steering wheel is on the left, and the roads are very narrow. I have found that after living on this tiny island for 27yrs that when I go back to the real world I have a problem driving on the right......SO, Driving is nothing more than a habit. As long as you pay attention to what you are doing you should not have an accident. I highly recommend renting a car because taxi fares will be the end of your cash!! A round trip to town from red hook is $30 for one person. Anywhere you go the taxi rates are high. They do however have the dollar taxis that only charge $1, any hotel employee can tell you about them because they take them all the time! They only go in one direction though so if you take it downtown you will have to pay full fare coming back.
